Myrtle Rust is a wind-borne fungal disease that attacks plants in the myrtle family including our native Pohutukawa, manuka and rata. Myrtle Rust is increasingly being discovered and spreading across many regions throughout New Zealand.

DoC and MPI also advise that Myrtle Rust can be transported on clothing or equipment. If you think you may have come in contact with myrtle rust, please wash your clothes and clean your equipment such as tools and boots carefully.
